Presentation 2: Hip Hop Dance Assessment
Tutor: Jacqui Fenwick
Date: 9th May 2016
Our assessment presentation 2 was combined with the hip hop workshop. We were given the task of creating a dance using hip hop influence and the skills we had aquired throughout the workshop to choreograph a dance in 30-45 mins at present to the class. The outline instructed that it had to be an activity or hobby that we enjoyed. Marcel, Greg and myself came up with the idea of gardening. The dance represents an elderly man struggling to maintain his garden and then contacting gardeners to come and do the work. We portray gardening through dance showing actions such as mowing, trimming trees, whipper snipping, planting mixed with famous dance moves such as the sprinkler. At the end of the dance we are paid for our efforts and this is demonstrated with us 'splashing cash' at the end of the dance.
During the creation of this routine we had to overcome the issue that Greg had injured his leg over the weekend. Our group saw this as a positive rather than a negative, and used this hurdle to show ways of inclusive dance. Although Greg had limited movement, he still contributed to the dance through movement on the chair and acted as an instructor telling us what 'garden jobs' needed to be completed next. Our group used a wide range of dance techniques that we had accumulated over the past workshops but used the I.S.A.R.E framework as our main focus on developing our dance
